What is MyResearchFolio?
Empowering Research. Enhancing Responsible Research Assessment.
What is MyResearchFolio?
MyResearchFolio aims to provide a customisable and evidence-informed platform for researchers to present their diverse activities, outputs, and achievements in a structured yet flexible manner. The service aligns with the evolving landscape of responsible research assessment, supporting recognition of qualitative contributions alongside quantitative indicators.
It is grounded in a re-engineering process that included a landscape analysis of existing platforms and leverages emerging frameworks—particularly those developed by the Horizon Europe project OPUS—to reflect contemporary values in research assessment, especially the importance of Open Science.
Mission
The mission of MyResearchFolio is to empower researchers and institutions with a dynamic, inclusive, and transparent platform that showcases the full breadth of researchers' contributions to science, education, innovation, and society.
At its core, MyResearchFolio seeks to redefine how research achievements are recorded, understood, and assessed, moving beyond narrow, metric-based evaluation systems. It promotes a holistic, Open Science-aware, and responsible approach to research assessment, recognising that impactful research comes in many forms—often interdisciplinary, collaborative, and societal in nature.
Champion Inclusivity and Diversity of Contributions
MyResearchFolio is built to reflect the richness and variety of researchers’ work—whether through publications, data sharing, teaching, mentoring, societal engagement, or policy influence. It values both traditional and non-traditional outputs, ensuring all forms of research-related work can be acknowledged and rewarded.
Enable Responsible Research Assessment
The platform aligns with global movements (e.g. DORA, CoARA, UNESCO Open Science Recommendation) that call for research assessment reform. By combining qualitative narratives with relevant, contextual indicators, MyResearchFolio supports evaluators in making fair, meaningful assessments of researcher performance—especially across diverse disciplines and career stages.
Adapt to Disciplinary and Institutional Needs
One size does not fit all in research assessment. MyResearchFolio is designed to be flexible and customizable, catering to the unique contexts of various research fields, institutions, and national systems.
Foster Interoperability and Innovation
Through integration with key data sources such as ORCID and OpenAIRE Graph, and plans to expand its data ecosystem, MyResearchFolio is committed to building a connected, open infrastructure. This supports researchers in managing their digital identity and research visibility across systems and platforms.

Promote Researcher Agency and Control
Researchers should have ownership over how their contributions are represented. MyResearchFolio provides tools for researchers to curate, explain, and contextualize their work, offering both automatic data integration and manual input features.
A Transformative Vision
Ultimately, MyResearchFolio’s mission is transformative: it envisions a future where researcher profiles are not just lists of outputs, but rich, contextual narratives of scholarly journeys—where quality, openness, collaboration, and societal value are recognised equally alongside academic excellence.
By supporting this transition, MyResearchFolio contributes to shaping a more inclusive, transparent, and impactful global research culture.
How MyResearchFolio Supports Open Science?
MyResearchFolio contributes to building a more transparent, inclusive, and collaborative research ecosystem, where Open Science is not just encouraged—but embedded, measured, and rewarded.
Integration of Open Science Pillar
MyResearchFolio includes Open Science as a core pillar, alongside with Research, Education, and Valorisation. This ensures that Open Science is not treated as an optional add-on, but as a central and visible dimension of a researcher’s contributions.
Dedicated Open Science Section
A dedicated section of the researcher profile highlights Open Science activities such as open access publishing, pre-prints, open-source software, data and protocol sharing, open peer review, and citizen science. These practices are made visible and valued as integral contributions to responsible and transparent research.
Narrative CV and Open Science Context
The Narrative CV module allows researchers to describe how and why they engage in Open Science, offering space for reflection on the rationale behind making outputs openly accessible. This qualitative element ensures Open Science practices are not reduced to box-ticking, but understood in their context and intent.
Recognition of Non-Traditional Outputs
MyResearchFolio recognizes and elevates non-traditional outputs—such as preprints, datasets, software, workflows, and multimedia—as legitimate and impactful research contributions. These outputs are often at the heart of Open Science but undervalued in traditional systems.
Data Integration with Open Platforms
MyResearchFolio integrates with OpenAIRE Graph, a key open infrastructure that indexes a wide range of Open Science outputs and links between projects, publications, and data. This ensures that Open Science outputs are automatically captured and highlighted.
By embedding Open Science in the structure of the profile and linking it to broader research impact and career development, MyResearchFolio helps drive a cultural shift in how research is assessed—moving away from narrow, closed, publication-centric models toward more collaborative, transparent, and equitable approaches.

How your profile is created
MyResearchFolio is designed to evolve with the diverse needs of research communities, offering flexible profile customization, seamless data integration, and responsible metrics to transform complex career trajectories into meaningful, context-aware narratives that support fair and inclusive research assessment.
1. Initialisation
MyResearchFolio is built on the OpenAIRE Graph, one of the world’s largest collections of open research data. This extensive resource gathers information from over 2,000 trusted providers, including repositories, publishers, research systems, and scholarly services such as Crossref, DOAJ, DOAB, ORCID, DataCite, Software Heritage.
The OpenAIRE Graph goes beyond merely aggregating data, it refines and enriches it using advanced automated processes. Text mining and AI algorithms validate the data, remove duplicates, and extract critical information from OA full-text publications. This includes details such as funding acknowledgments and links to related datasets, ensuring that the data is accurate, interconnected, and actionable for the researcher.

During the initialisation process, MyResearchFolio integrates data directly from ORCID, automatically importing key information such as education, employment, and qualifications to help researchers quickly build their profile. When users manually add or update information within MyResearchFolio, they also have the option to synchronise selected entries back to their ORCID profile, ensuring consistency across platforms. All imported and manually added content appears seamlessly within the researcher’s profile, clearly marked and editable for full control and transparency.
2. Customisation
MyResearchFolio offers robust customization features, enabling research institutions, communities, and disciplines to tailor researcher profiles to their specific needs, values, and assessment criteria. From defining relevant indicators to selecting field-specific templates and narrative modules, MyResearchFolio ensures each profile reflects the unique context of the researcher. Customization is managed through an intuitive admin interface, allowing to configure settings across areas such as:
1. Custom Timeline Configuration
